Leading and Coaching Teachers to Support All Students

To cultivate a school community of care, staff and students must feel safe and supported. As a school leader, you help set this tone throughout the learning community and are pivotal in supporting teachers in creating the conditions for all students to experience growth and success in school. Through your leadership and coaching, teachers can maximize student on-task behavior, minimize disruptive behaviors, and maintain a sense of community with all students within their learning space. In this workshop, you’ll gain ideas from other leaders in the field and leave with a toolkit of ideas to strengthen your coaching, allowing you to elevate teacher effectiveness in supporting all students.

Create Belonging and Transform Behavior Through Restorative Practices

Restorative practices promote belonging, relationship-building, problem-solving, and repairing harm. Through methods, such as community agreements, restorative circles, problem solving conferences, and peer mediation, students learn to reflect on and take responsibility for their actions, create plans to repair harm and feel a sense of belonging in their classroom and school community. In this session, leaders will explore these methods and learn how to support their staff as they work to exchange more punitive approaches for restorative actions. Leaders will also understand how to leverage these same practices to navigate conflict with families and staff members.
