Time

Session 1: In-Person Workshop - November 20th, 2026 (9:00 AM- 3:00 PM) From Avoidance to Engagement: Building School Systems That Promote Resilience, Regulation, and Attendance School refusal is a complex challenge that requires thoughtful, collaborative responses from educators, mental health professionals, and families. In this full-day workshop, participants will explore the underlying causes of school refusal behavior, learn to distinguish it from truancy and other attendance concerns, and examine evidence-based assessment and intervention strategies. Participants will leave with practical tools, resources, and a framework for supporting students' successful return to school. Virtual Follow-Up Session 1 - December 17, 2026: 4 - 5pm Implementing Tier 1 Self-Regulation Strategies in the Classroom Virtual Follow-Up Session 2 - January 14th, 2027: 4 - 5pm Counselors as SEL Coaches: Push-In Strategies to Build Teacher Capacity Virtual Follow-Up Session 3 - February 11th, 2027: 4 - 5pm Leveraging Data to Identify Tier 1 Non-Responders Virtual Follow-Up Session 4 - March 11th, 2027: 4 - 5pm The Accommodation Continuum: Using Support to Build Independence Instead of Dependence Virtual Follow-Up Session 5 - April 8th, 2027: 4 - 5pm Developing a Tiered Intervention Playbook to Address Avoidance Coping
