Cultivating Resilience in Ourselves – August 17-18, 2020 Education is a physically and emotionally demanding field, and successful educators must intentionally develop resilience in order to thrive. This workshop will help participants explore the habits and dispositions of resilient educators, outlined in Elena Aguilar's book, Onward: Cultivating Emotional Resilience in Educators. They'll learn about themselves and develop a deeper understanding of their emotions. They will begin to recognize entry points into cultivating resilience in themselves and practice strategies to develop resilience over the long haul. As participants boost resilience, they will discover they have the energy to do their challenging work!
Cultivating Resilience in Others – August 19, 2020 With burnout and stress levels on the rise, research on resilience provides a great deal of hope. We can learn strategies to build our ability to respond to adversity! This workshop teaches the highest leverage strategies that support educators to build resilience and offers an opportunity to see the strategies modeled, and to practice them immediately. Participants reflect on their own resilience and learn a variety of methods to boost the resilience of those they coach, lead, and support. The workshop builds on the material in Onward and introduces tools and resources that have not been published elsewhere. It is recommended, not required, to attend Aug. 17-18.
