Identifying Reliable Measures to Support Social Emotional Learning Skills at the Student, Classroom and Whole School Level

Wednesday, January 26, 2022 (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) (EST)

Description

Brought to you by NHASP and The Learning Bar: Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) entails the development of a set of competencies or assets that facilitate learning and social adjustment. School-based interventions designed to increase these competencies are embodied in the CASEL framework: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills. In this workshop, Dr. Willms will describe the role of Social Emotional Skills (SES) in the Learning Bar’s framework for student well-being. Specifically, he will focus on the following: • How can we reliably measure SEL competencies? • What are some achievable goals for improving SEL? • What are the key whole-school, classroom, and student-level strategies that increase SEL skills
